Education & Government

Dave Dumeyer Consulting, LLC specializes in the two primary areas in which Dave has held professional positions: education and government.  Trained as a professional certified secondary teacher, Dave has held positions as a public school professional in both Maryland and Pennsylvania.  Upon his retirement from the General Assembly staff, he served briefly as an adjunct professor of history for three years.  His fellow teachers in public school held him in esteem by electing him to leadership positions in the professional organization.  While a teacher at Hempfield High School he guided his freshman soccer team to the divisional championship (11-1-1) by his third year of coaching.

At the height of his teaching career, the Republican Caucus of the PA House of Representatives offered Dave a job on its legislative staff.  His first assignment was with the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, which he acknowledged was a “huge challenge since it was outside my field of preparation.”  Serving initially as a research analyst, by 1992 he was the executive director of the House Ag Committee’s GOP minority.  By 1993 he had transferred to the House Education Committee, again serving as the higher education research analyst and then, in 2000, he was elevated to the Executive Director of the Committee, this time with the majority party.

Dave’s understanding of government is not limited just to the state legislature.  He has served as an elected supervisor for West Hempfield, a township of the second class located in Lancaster County. Originally appointed to fill a vacancy, he was elected to his first full term in 1991 and re-elected to three additional 6-year terms.  With four other colleagues, they manage a suburban municipality of over 15,000 residents.  Dave has been re-elected by his colleagues as board chairman for the past 11 years.  Previous to Board service, Dave also served on the West Hempfield Planning Commission, and on the township’s Ag Security Area Advisory Committee. He is scheduled to assume the role of municipal representative of the Hempfield School District to the Lancaster County Tax Collection Bureau in 2014.
